Play Guitar With The Ventures

Sorry I've been gone for so long. A week long vacation kept being extended.

I picked this record up a few weeks ago. Not only is it interesting for the isolated parts of songs, but it also encourages learning to play music by ear and feeling, which is something I strongly agree with. And how often do you hear an isolated bass part on a mid 60's recording? While the music is simple enough to learn in the first place, any fan of surf music should be interested in this. I don't have Volume 1, but this one has better songs anyways. Photos of the 12-page booklet are included in the archive.

I hope you get the 12 page booklet scanned so I can learn to play like The Ventures. I am curious how good the booklet is since it has to be about playing by ear.

My cousin gave me Volume One, like, 35 years ago and it really helped me get the feel for playing leads and bass runs! There's also a Play Bass Guitar With The Ventures out there some place. A friend of mine once had it and then smashed it up. :-(

I started out as a drummer in 1966and learned from the ventures as well as other bands. My Mom bought me this album when it came out as I wanted to learn guitar. Learned ALL the parts to all the songs. Still play drums, but this was my launch into the Guitar world.

Great stuff mate!

Was looking for those diagrams for ages, now finally got them. I hope you don't mind if I use them in my Ventures audio archive?

it's great to see an interest in my favourite band. I used to own all their Play Guitar w/the Ventures but alas they were all stolen. I have managed to locate one which I now own "Walk Don't Run" on Dolton records. If anyone here could help me find even downloadable Venture music with images I would be forever grateful.

Forty-five years ago, I created the Guitar Phonics "Play Guitar" series of albums for Liberty Records. The Ventures, Jimmy Bryant, and Chet Atkins, I worked with then on these albums. It was a great experience then and more so now. Thanks for the continued interest! Bill Savidge
